HP MRL50 (SL500) Mid-Range Tape Library

The MRL50 (SL500) Mid-Range Tape Library is available for HP S-series or Integrity NonStop™ servers. The library, which is integrated by Tributary Systems, Inc. and sold exclusively through the HP sales organization, is the most scalable, rackmount, tape automation solution in the market today.

The modular design starts at 50 cartridge slots and can scale to 530 slots with add-on modules. The Base Module houses the library’s robotics and control interface, and holds 50 cartridges and two tape drives. Up to four expansion modules can be added to the Base Module increasing the library’s capacity to 530 cartridge slots or up to 18 tape drives with 395 cartridge slots. The M8521A Base Module with 18 LTO Gen 5 FC tape drives, offers an uncompressed data throughput of 9 TB per hour.

The expandable drive capacity and use of LTO Gen 3 SCSI in the Base Module for the S-series and the latest LTO Gen 5 FC tape drive technologies in the M8521A Base Module for the Integrity NonStop are ideal for critical server applications with fast rates of data growth, such as enterprise file servers.

The fast performance and larger cartridge capacity make the MRL50 an ideal choice for a wide range of backup environments, from small remote sites to corporate data centers. The modular library provides a very adaptable platform that can accommodate current and future storage consolidation and data protection needs.
